What have you gained?
by bagpuss inits two years since i last attended a meeting or thought of myself as a jw.
despite the prophesys of doom and gloom for those who leave the org i have gained lots and lost nothing.. i have much more time to spend with my husband which has led to our relationship improving fantastically.. i have a better relationship with my children who stopped going to meetings when they were teenagers.. i have become much closer to my family (i've just returned from yorkshire from my great nephews 1st birthday party.
my confidence has grown dramatically as i no longer view myself as worthless.. the guilt of not doing enough has gone.. i now have real friends.. the list goes on, but i really would like to hear what you've gained or hope to gain by leaving the borg.

I think that some people should be offended and we are not doing them a favor by sparing their feelings.
If anyone gets upset at honesty they should grow a thicker skin or hide under their beds like cowards.

I just got back from singing karaoke at my local bar. Dirty danced with drunken fat chicks and sang songs by The Clash, Frank Sinatra, Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
A great time was had by all.

As a Witness I served on a jury. I felt as long as it was not a death penalty case I would have no problem. The rest of the congregation knew and no one said a thing.

When j.w.'s testify in court, who's Bible do they swear on?
by hubert inlet's say, in a child custody case, or something of that nature.. do they ask for the nwt?.
if they use the standard bible, because it's not the one they believe in, does that give them reason to lie in court?

That trial was one of the most dificult things I have ever experienced.
A sister I was in love with was murdered by her ex-husband. The DA did everything he could to make the murderer blow his top during my testimony.
The jury was hung and he got off scot free. That very day he told a sister to give me a message, if he ever saw me he would kill me.

I celebrate the 4th of July, say the Pledge, vote in every election and have run for elected office.
On Decoration Day (Memorial Day to Yankees) I place US flags on US veterans graves and Confederate flags on graves of Confederate veterans of the War Between the States.

28 Years Later...Do I ask Jehovah where he is? Or do I still wait on him???
by Apostanator insince i was told to wait on jehovah, the brother who raped my ex-wife had just turned 83. what happens if he dies before jehovah gets here?
the elders told me that jehovah would take care of things soon.
